OUR STORY
MAMAÏ COUTURE was created by Beatrice Gonzadi, a haute-couture designer with 25 years of experience, trained at prestigious fashion houses such as Valentino, Gattinoni and Ovale. But more than that, MAMAÏ COUTURE was conceived during Beatrice’s childhood, inspired by a heritage of women whose hands knew how to sew, weave, embellish and love.
At MAMAÏ COUTURE , love is not just an empty word. It is the invisible thread that connects generations, connects imagination to craftsmanship, childhood to the precise art of sewing.
In the family Chateau in Montifray, Charlotte, the great-grandmother, sketched the animals in the park in a magical bestiary. Today, these animal drawings are part of MAMAÏ COUTURE‘s life, inspiring the patterns, details and animations that bring each of the brand’s creations to life.
Cécile, the grandmother, sewed clothes for family celebrations. And her mother Gabrielle, a rebellious artist, transmitted her audacity: breaking the rules and assembling heritage to invent a free, poetic and lively style of dressmaking.
ONCE UPON A TIME…
…there was a little girl named Charlotte, on a summer’s day at Montifray Castle.
Her older sister was immersed in a book without pictures, no one to talk to, not even a breeze to chase. “What would an afternoon be without colours or daydreams?” she might have thought, pulling a soft paint brush from her pocket. Then, with a lively burst of energy, she set off through the paths of the park, behind the trees, to discover the animals of the manor: a greedy rabbit, birds with iridescent feathers, a curious kitten, and Belode, the hunting dog, snoozing under the tall oak tree on this heavy summer day. She sketched them on paper with a few lively touches, as if they were about to jump out of the drawing.
“It was in a burst of childhood enthusiasm, a desire to transform tedium into beauty, that Mamaï came to life, somewhere between the stories of yesterday and today.”
